County maps for Mississippi and Alabama

I've been working with the records of descendants of Jarvis Willis 1758-1850.  They largely settle in Lawrence County,  Alabama,  but are often moving between Mississippi and various counties in Northwest Alabama.   It's helpful then to get a visual on where these counties are located and when they were formed.

In Alabama,  most of the descendants of Jarvis settle in Lawrence County,  but are also found in records in Franklin and Colbert Counties.   These are contiguous counties located in the upper Northwest section of the State of Alabama.

Lawrence County - formed from Cherokee and Chickasaw Cession in 1816.
Franklin County - formed from Cherokee and Chickasaw Cession of 1816.
Colbert County - formed from Franklin County in 1867.

Just on the other side of the state line,  in Mississippi,  the counties appear as follows:

Mississippi County formation map - Can be found at this LINK.

Monroe County - Was formed in 1818 from Indian lands.  Up until about 1836 it encompassed most of the upper portion of the state of Mississippi.
Holmes County - Was formed in 1833 from Yazoo County.

One ancestor in particular,  Charles Monroe Willis 1802-1870, has a migration pattern that does not make sense:

1820 Monroe County,  Mississippi Age 16 thru 25

1830 can not be located
1840 Lawrence County, Alabama Age no indication
1850 Holmes County, Mississippi Age 46
1860 Franklin County, Alabama Age 54
1870 Holmes County, Mississippi Age 60

Something's wrong with these census records tagged to Charles Monroe Willis 1802-1870,  somewhere.  Its likely that we are dealing with two different Charles Willis here and have mis-tagged one or more of these records.
