CRAVEN COUNTY GROUP
- Started with a Richard Willis 1600-1626 who came from Cambridgeshire, UK and located in Middlesex, Va. in very early 1600s.
- In 1700s, this group largely moved into Craven County, North Carolina. From there they migrated south into Ga, then across the deep south.
- Members of this group were among founders of the Mormon Church.
- Best tree I have found on this group belongs to a David Porter Willis and his tree is on FTDNA, here.
- David is a 25 marker Y-DNA match to me, with genetic distance of 2.
ANDREW JACKSON GROUP
- Ancestry user with most knowledge of this group is bridgetgillis44.
- Bridget's tree, here.
- There are two kits of this group as of Feb 2019. Their Y-test shows them closely related to males of the surname Crain, or McCrain. So, there is a biological break along their Willis branch.
- Their earliest Willis ancestor is Andrew Jackson Willis 1815-1885. He is known to have believed to be of Willis of THE MARYLAND GROUP, closely interacting in Colbert Co, Alabama in the mid 1800s.
